Religious Education English

Serving the children of our parish community by nourishing them with the Word of God

Let the children come to me, do not stop them, because the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these."     Matthew 19:14

Our Mission

St. Columban School of Religious Education is a Catholic Religious Education/Formation ministry in the parish.  With Jesus as the center of our catechesis, we share in the Church’s ministry of the religious formation of children and youth.

The School of Religious Education provides a loving and compassionate atmosphere where our students can learn the message of Jesus and deepen their Catholic Christian identity and faith through religious instruction, formation in conscience, prayer, worship, Christian Service and the catechumenal process when applicable.

As catechists we recognize and support the responsibility parents have as the primary religious educators of their children.

Our program

Our catechists offer first year sacramental instruction and second year sacramental preparation. Religious formation never ends. Lessons are age appropriate for each grade level, and taught by volunteers who selflessly use their gifts of time, treasure and talents.

Instruction begins at the First grade level and continues through Eighth Grade. Each student will be expected to participate in service projects, know prayers appropriate to their age, and complete any homework that is assigned by their teacher. Parents are expected to attend church regularly with their children, reinforce weekly lessons, attend formation meetings, and contribute time to our program.

Together, we will work with you to form and educate your child to practice our Catholic faith in preparation to be the disciples that Jesus calls us to be
.
