“Those who follow Jesus pay no heed to prophets of doom, the nonsense of horoscopes, or terrifying sermons and predictions that distract from the truly important things. Amid the din of so many voices, the Lord asks us to distinguish between what is from him and what is from the false spirit.” — Pope Francis
Reflection: Headlines like “worst ever…” and “most horrific…” are common right now. Reading the Bible as well as history books, we discover prophets of doom exist in every age. What tempts you to pay more attention to the “false spirit” of our times than to Jesus? Which of the many issues you are aware of does your faith in Jesus help you distinguish as being truly important? How can you take an active role in staying focused on these or ignoring distractions from what brings humanity closer to the goodness for which God made us?
